Friendship is not enough, nor encrypted strongboxes, nor a warbarge that just boosts a solo player. Tie the game to EVE or sell it to Dice.
I wanted, from the day CCP said it was possible, to be able to produce the suits and equipment for my Mercs on the battlefield in Eve like I do my ships and modules. I wanted from the day I started playing to be able to sell my salvage for a fair price. The NPC market is worse than backwater market wh*res who take stuff at 10% value in EVE.
I wanted integration not segregation, which we had from the start. I would pay a subscription fee to play as both me and my significant other do (2 accounts each) to play Eve. Hell I have multiple toons training on more than one account now in Eve (roughly $70 cost for myself for one month for my toons).
Walking in stations interacting with Dust/Eve players would be a good start. Having a plaza to sit and mingle or play cards or scam people in would be a good move forward.
Secondly allow mercs to make and accept contracts, isk and items from both Eve and Dust. A battle is not a contract no matter how you word it.
Allow mercs to relocate via troop transport through Eve to a new location and make Warbarges a Corporate Ship flown by a player.
This is what was described to us as the FUTURE of dust when we were asked to try it out in Closed Beta. This is what we expected to come within the next few years. What we have now is more like COD without decent hit detection and equipment costs that are sometimes quite extreme for the 1.5s it takes for the merc to detonate the RE on top of the uplink we spawned at.
Please consider that you gave us assurances that things would move in these directions as you stated previously and that you should do what was planned. I realize you have a good deal of work ahead of you to get it to this point, as it seems you have only lightly touched on any of these items but I believe I have been patient, and many others have as well, supporting your continued efforts to make the game better.
I am writing this because I don't see any movement towards any Eve ties, nor any indication that anything is happening other than the attempt to increase revenues through the free-to-play model. Ever since I started playing Eve I keep hearing "walking in stations" and that you are working on it but all I see is a Captain's Quarters or a Mercenaries Quarters so I have been waiting close to 7 years for walking in stations.
In the construction business if you said we're working on building a plaza for people to put shops up at and walk around and mingle, socializing and having events and then said but for now can you please all just stay in your hotel rooms while we fix all the doors, and then left people in there for this length of time, you would have people jumping out of windows before the end of the first year.
I understand things take time to work out and would much rather have the game optimized before walking in stations and realize its a video game, not the construction business, but I am wondering if you just all up and forgot about this stuff.
As much as I welcome feedback relating to any of the ideas presented here, I hope that someone from CCP will look at this and provide me with some feedback on my concerns.
Thank you for your time and understanding.

Atiim wrote:How will creating an EVE-DUST link improve this game? I am so glad you asked this question. New Eden is an evolving and multi-platform user interaction environment and it allows users all over the globe to communicate and form relationships in very meaningful and lasting ways as evidenced by several marriages of players, friendships and groups formed by the majority of players in the games.
It is not just a game to the people playing but a way to socialize and enjoy life. Experiment with alter egos. Plan strategically for a fantastical future that is frankly out of this world. We look at New Eden as a release from the stresses of daily life and generally enjoy playing these games, to vent and have fun. I ask for an expansion on the experience to include all of new eden in the same experience rather than 2 separate sets of experiences and to join them fully rather than just living in the same duplex and calling up through the floorboards so to speak.
It would enrich the games, this is a future forward way of thinking. Unleash the power-of-two.

Edit: Also, hey Kaeru Understood and I agree, still I see stuff not getting fixed or even a bandaid and more broken "stuff" being added without assessing how it affects the other broken "stuff" Well there are some things on the roadmap which I think will be important steps towards reaching that ultimate goal. Player Trading leads to a market system and basic craffting leads to actual industry. In the PC redesign we're also getting into details about resource generation, asset production, and transportation. While these things don't accomplish exactly what you're looking for, I think they are basic but neccesary steps in getting to a point where we can actually get the sort of linkage that you're looking for. These are not the same as joining the two games. There has been plenty of talk about important steps. There has been none about crafting. There have been no discussions (CCP involved with players that I have seen) about mining etc, and frankly an Eve pilot could produce mats and assets much quicker and deliver them to players easier than Dust players ever could trapped in one station their entire Merc career.
I am glad you point out some of the items that my feedback has gotten hits on in the forums but CCP has been reluctant at best to address the majority of these points in the past, I am fishing for a response from Devs, CPM and possibly Hilmar himself, although I am unsure they want to communicate with me.
At this point in time the market steps are still looking like too little too late in the day to retain the vast majority of the early on player base we had. Things need to change. Plain and simple. Some things are which is positive, but I see this as more of a distraction from the goal right now than actual movement towards the proposed Legion.

Pokey Dravon wrote:Well I hate to break it to you but when we interviewed Ratatti himself on Biomassed, he flat out said there are currently no plans for further EVE linkage at this time, and that his is 100% focused on improving Dust's gameplay and fixing the countless broken systems in the game before he intends to spend any time on the EVE link. I'm not saying it will never happen, but I wouldn't expect it anything soon. Something tells me that if I said the sky was blue I would get a no its pink outside my house right now out of you sir.
Thank you for letting me know but I knew already there are no plans to further the linkage because Dust is a PS3 exclusive, hence why it will be rebranded when Legion hits. This was presented as feedback not to ask for a when. I fully expect another year to pass with Dust well going to dust. The majority of my corp seems to be enjoying the PS4 much more than their PS3s and its not just my corp that has this issue alone.
There needs to be a reason to make Eve players care about this game or it will never gain traction on the Computer when the transition happens.

My views on this subject have been made known more than once in regards to the reason the player base has suffered a significant amount of attrition, I struggle myself to find reasons to log in when I look at the number of people online from my eve client and from my dust client at the same time, many times I opt for the larger player base, more interaction and options. I want to share those opportunities with my friends on Dust, sadly this is still not possible.
Hopefully you understand that my previous comment about the sky being pink (a comment about relative natures being different from different perspectives) didn't give you the idea that I was thinking you argumentative. I was merely expressing that at that time there were no plans but obviously there are many things to fix even as Ratatti has said. I fully expect that they can only plan so far in advance. Maybe tomorrow he will draft a plan to integrate more of Eve into Dust and vice versa.

Soraya Xel wrote:I share your desire for more EVE/DUST integration. Feel free to let your favorite CSM rep (or candidate, elections are coming soon) know that you want to see it. A large number of EVE players have shown very little support for DUST integration or Walking in Stations and I think have probably made it clear to CCP they don't want a lot of resources spent on it. That vision of a combined universe is the one that got me so excited about both EVE and DUST in the first place. But unfortunately, without the support of the EVE community, I imagine what you ask is a very long way away. Well as far as that goes I understand this but still feel it is the right direction to head. I've seen it on the Eve forums and it make me die a little more inside. They complain that its all console kiddies playing Dust on their mommy's credit card but in all reality the majority are not. In fact it was Eve players who Beta'd the game, not the general public. The amount of support for it at the beginning from those players (all eve players throughout) when we were told One Universe//One War was tremendous and at that time we had over 7k players peaking at 9-10k during Open Beta. That was prime time for the things mentioned above, and all or at best most of those items were completely ignored, leaving a tremendous down slope of emotion about the whole game overall. Pick up the pieces and fix it, don't just mangle it beyond what can be salvaged now please.

Soraya Xel wrote:Aside from that, there's actually a few directions I can see building off of the warbarge system and the PC revamp that might someday be good hooks for EVE to tie to. But you have to start at the basics. As for the warbarges, providing damage boosts to individuals is pretty broken (if I understand correctly) and seems to me like it will ruin NPE, OPE, and the game in general for those not able to acquire them through any means. The majority of what I have mentioned above also has nothing to do with warbarges.

This thread is called "preaching to the choir". :D I have tried before, likely will again but tbh I believe it is a job for mass marketing (By CCP) not forum warriors.

Lavallois Nash wrote:I gotta say, that would be really cool, walking around a space station commercial hub. Youd have the EVE toons looking all dignified and then us in our shiny, gladiator suits. Only problem I see with that concept is that we make alot less ISK and are in the market for alot less things. So the section of the mall with offers/benefits/opportunities/scams/ect that Dust players could take advantage of will be smaller.
im just saying, Dust players are probably going to hang around the Quafe vending machines all day waiting for a fight to happen. Well if we were able to trade items isk and contracts that could change very rapidly, and besides, whats wrong with hanging around the Quafe machine waiting for someone to shank someone else? We do it in eve all the time and I have been known to do it on the battlefield in the past also. This would just be a different venue.

The Eve community have made it very clear and continue to do so, that they'll only support Eve Dev that promotes Eve itself. Indeed, there is a growing desire amongst them on the forums for removing Dust items from the marketplace because they can't do anything with it or care about a game that most of them think has been cancelled anyway.
My point exactly sir, because they can't do anything with it, Dust has become a liability, stealing dev dollars away from the Eve dev teams which are doing an excellent job and seem to be working towards improving structure mechanics which up until recently has been put on the back burner and has been needed for many years.
CCP needs to step up and say hey, we know you guys may not like this right away but guess what we are doing this very next build...I remember the riots, very much unprecedented and uncalled for but this is new eden not the us congress. Yes people playing the game matter, but the initial vision was sound and a great idea, it was marvellous thinking that one day we might interact inside a marketplace of some sort with out having 10 tonnes of armor around a person.
I know, go out and get some fresh air with the people who live next door right? My nearest neighbor is a 15-20 minute drive away. Its a commute to work and this is where I go to enjoy myself. Eve Lounge on the Eve Home was great in the implementation, put it into game. Better yet force feed it with constructive adds to the Eve market by saying, want some slaves to rid your planets of Drone infestations? Hire your mercs today for cleansing missions so your precious PI stays operational.
This has been said before, give Eve players a reason to care what happens in dust and they will. Better yet, sell Dust as a new market, give payouts that compare to Eve mission payouts and make mercs wealthy instead of making the economies so disparate that 200mil in dust is worth a Plex in Eve or more. Then when Eve players manufacture for their new market it is worth making the items for the Dust players.

Your warbarge automatically generates the components it needs to upgrade itself It is neither ISK nor SP. It is a time sink. Yeah I took the time and checked my emails for the newsletters, I guess its meant to retain members, but this doesn't provide eve integration unless I can pilot my warbarge to my matches?
